Useful Information

If your child is not yet six he/she is unfortunately unable to register under WRU rules.

Once your child has reached six years of age then they will be eligible to register and play. Please be aware that places at this age group tend to fill up fast and we are restricted to 25 players only.

Your child, when registered will play tag rugby (non-contact) for two seasons, this is for safety reasons as most children are not physically developed enough to cope with the tackling side of rugby. From the under 9’s age group and beyond, tackling and other aspects of rugby union are added each year under the “Pathway” rules. There is an annual registration fee of £25 (currently) which registers the player with the WRU for insurance purposes and also helps towards an end of season presentation trophy and after match food during the season.

A registration card (GREEN for players in primary school and RED for secondary school) must be completed and include two passport size photos. We also ask that you complete a “Photo consent Form” and hand in to the coach or team manager for processing.

All games are played on a Sunday morning on a home or away basis. For away games we are reliant on the players’ parents to transport the children to and from the games. For home games you will be advised by the coach as to what time you will meet. On completion of the games all players are encouraged to return to the club for food. This also helps with the social interaction of the children and team building. We usually find the parents benefit greatly from the social side as well.

Playing kit, excluding shirt is available to purchase from our club shop which is open most games and on training evenings.

All coaches, assistants, referees and team managers are CRB checked to enhanced level, and all coaches are qualified as either Tag Leaders or have a WRU level 1 coaching award.
